Where is your counselling practice?
My private counselling practice is based just outside of Guildford in Surrey. Address details will be given prior to the initial session.

How much  does it cost?
I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation in order to gain an understanding of your specific issues and how counselling might work for you. Thereafter, the fee is £55 per 50 minute session (face-to-face or video counselling)
How many sessions will be needed?
I offer short and longer term counselling. The number of sessions required will largely depend on your personal needs. However a minimum of 6 sessions is usually recommended (though not obligatory) in order to develop a therapeutic relationship and begin an exploration of what is going on in your life, making connections and patterns with your past experiences in order to move forward towards a happier present and future.
Why are sessions 50 minutes?
50 minute counselling sessions are known as a "therapy hour". This is to allow 10 minute to make relevant reflective notes straight after the session. I do not take notes during the session so that I can fully focus on listening to your story, exploring your experiences and challenges with you.
What can I expect during my first session?
The initial session will primarily focus on assessing your needs and expectations, gaining an overview of your presenting issue, allaying any fears or worries you might have and establishing how we might work together towards achieving your therapy goals, if you are happy to continue. For clients under the age of 18 years, a safeguarding contract with limitations to confidentiality will be discussed. Most importantly the first session will be a chance to establish a positive therapeutic relationship.
How and when do I make a payment for a session?
Payment can be made either before or straight after a counselling session. I accept bank transfer or cash.
What if i need to cancel a session?
Should you need to cancel a scheduled session please give me a minimum of 24 hours notice where possible.  Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice and where it isn’t possible to arrange an alternative time that week, will be charged at the full session rate of £55.
Will my personal information be shared with anyone and where will it be stored?
All information you give will remain strictly confidential.  It will not be shared with a third party other than with my supervisor (anonymously) if necessary or if required by a court of law. Personal details and written notes will be securely locked away when not needed during the session. They will be available for client access in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation Act 2018. No information will be stored electronically. For clients under the age of 18 years there will be further limitations to confidentiality in accordance with the Children Act 2004 and the Children and Social Work Act 2017. These will be discussed in detail during the initial session and signed client consent required in order to continue the sessions. For clients under the age of 16 years or classified as having special needs or vulnerabilities, I will require written consent from either a parent, legal guardian or registered medical practitioner before commencing counselling.
